The Effect Of Career Calling And Talent Policy On Innovative Work Behavior With Work Engagement As A Mediation Variable On Teachers Under The Authority Of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo
Abstract
The development of education in the Society 5.0 era requires teachers to have innovative work behavior to improve the quality of learning. This study aims to analyze the influence of career calling and talent policy on innovative work behavior with work engagement as a mediating variable in teachers under the auspices of Muhammadiyah in Ponorogo Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. The study population was all Muhammadiyah elementary, junior high, senior high, and vocational high school teachers in Ponorogo Regency, with a sample of 122 teachers selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a five-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) assisted by SmartPLS. The results showed that career calling did not directly influence innovative work behavior, but had a positive effect on work engagement. Talent policy had a positive effect on innovative work behavior and work engagement, while work engagement also had a positive effect on innovative work behavior. In addition, work engagement mediated the influence of career calling and talent policy on innovative work behavior. This study concluded that improving teachers' innovative work behavior is more effectively achieved through strengthening talent management policies and increasing work engagement than solely relying on professional calling.
