The Effect of Project-Based Learning and Self-Directed Learning Models on Critical Thinking Skills in Economics Learning through the Use of Artificial Intelligence as a Mediating Variable among Generation Z Students
Abstract
This study aims to obtain broader knowledge and understanding of the effect of project-based learning, self-directed learning, and critical thinking skills through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) among Generation Z students. The method used in this study is quantitative research with a descriptive research type. The population consisted of Generation Z students from the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Makassar, totaling 1,225 respondents. The sample used in this study consisted of 124 respondents. The data analysis technique used was Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that project-based learning has a significant effect on critical thinking skills. Self-directed learning has a significant effect on critical thinking skills. Project-based learning has a significant effect on the use of artificial intelligence. Self-directed learning has a significant effect on the use of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence has a significant effect on critical thinking skills. Artificial intelligence mediates the effect of project-based learning on critical thinking skills. Artificial intelligence also mediates the effect of self-directed learning on critical thinking skills.
