Abstract

The collective memory of the community regarding the DI/TII movement led by Kahar Muzakkar in Enrekang Regency shows a difference between the official narrative and the experiences of the local community. This study aims to analyze how the Enrekang community remembers and interprets the DI/TII Kahar Muzakkar incident and its impact on the community's social life. The data for this writing uses a qualitative approach with an oral history method through in-depth interviews with informants who have experience and knowledge related to the event. This paper shows an analysis with a perspective, where Kahar Muzakkar in historiography is positioned as a fighter, but in the experience of the local community is remembered as a source of fear and social pressure. The impacts include disruption of security stability, restrictions on social mobility, difficulties in meeting economic needs, and long-term collective trauma. The DI/TII incident was not only a political and military conflict, but a social phenomenon that played a role in the formation of the community's collective memory, so that the oral history approach is important in revealing local perspectives in historiographical studies
