Abstract

Low understanding of waste management among teenagers at Bank Sampah Serumpun Asoka, Singkawang City necessitates innovative and interactive educational media. This study aims to: (1) design and develop a web-based interactive animation using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method; (2) test functionality using White Box and Black Box Testing; and (3) measure effectiveness through pre-test and post-test evaluation. The developed application, ASOKA DIGITAL, was built using ReactJS and integrates 9 interactive simulation modules, synchronized audio narration, a drag-and-drop waste sorting game, a 30-question quiz, and a gamification system. White Box Testing yielded cyclomatic complexity V(G) between 1 and 8, while all 27 Black Box Testing scenarios produced conforming results. Effectiveness testing with 34 respondents showed a mean score increase from 90.2 (pre-test) to 98.4 (post-test), a 9.1% improvement. Media quality assessment via Likert scale yielded a mean of 4.41 out of 5.00 (88.2%), categorized as Very Good.
