Reconstructing the Mathematics Learning Paradigm through the Integration of Humanistic Values

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the reconstruction of the mathematics learning paradigm from the aspects of humanistic learning theory and local wisdom (Among System), together with its pedagogical implications. The discussion intends to provide insight into the development of teaching strategies that adapt to the transformation of the way students learn mathematics, move beyond mechanistic procedures, and construct a deep “meaning of learning.” The paper, hence, covers a comprehensive overview of both global humanistic approaches, rooted in the views of Maslow, Rogers, Combs, and Freire, and the philosophical foundations of Ki Hajar Dewantara. The writing is anticipated to be helpful for future research which empirically focuses on humanizing mathematics classrooms and improving student well-being. As efforts are made in line with the aspirations of the Merdeka Curriculum to foster independent and critical learners, the integration of humanistic values is indicated to be superior to traditional mechanistic paradigms in overcoming mathematics anxiety and achieving holistic potential development.
