Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of extracurricular activities in supporting learning objectives and student character development using the CIPP evaluation model (context, input, process, and product). The research involved students, supervising teachers, and the principal, with qualitative data collected through interviews and observations analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while quantitative data were obtained through Likert scale questionnaires and analyzed descriptively using averages and percentages. The findings revealed that student participation was affected by low motivation, mismatch of interests and talents, peer influence, and limited family support. Quantitative results showed that extracurricular activities were categorized as very effective in the input (82.10%), process (83.30%), and product (85.10%) components, and effective in the context component (79.58%). Active students demonstrated better outcomes than less active students. Overall, the study concluded that extracurricular activities significantly contribute to learning achievement and character development, especially in discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, communication, and cooperation, highlighting the need for strategies to improve motivation, diversify activities, and strengthen parental involvement.
