Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses models of educational quality development as a systematic approach to improving the quality of educational institutions. The discussion stems from the idea that educational quality is not only evident in learning outcomes, but also in inputs, processes, management, organisational culture, and the relevance of graduates to the needs of society. This article employs a literature review approach by examining the concept of educational quality, the objectives of implementing quality models, the benefits of quality development, and models that can be utilised by educational institutions. The models examined include Total Quality Management, Six Sigma, the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle, the Internal Quality Assurance System, and standards-based education. The findings indicate that educational quality development must be continuous, data-driven, involve all stakeholders, and be led by a headteacher with a quality-oriented mindset. Teachers are the key actors in transforming standards and policies into meaningful learning processes. Therefore, quality improvement cannot be achieved merely through the fulfilment of administrative paperwork. Educational institutions need to foster a living culture of quality in the planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up of educational programmes. This article emphasises that models for educational quality development will be effective if they are adapted to the context of the institution, the needs of learners, teachers’ competencies, the availability of resources, and community participation.
