Abstract

This article aims to analyze the process of digitalization in Islamic education learning at higher education institutions, to identify the emerging innovations, challenges, and relevant implementation strategies within the context of Islamic higher education. The study uses a qualitative literature review method referring to various journals, books, and scientific articles on the digitalization of education, technology‑based learning, and the ideas of Islamic education thinkers. The findings show that digitalization has produced online learning, blended learning, and the use of LMS and other digital media that expand access and increase student engagement. However, digitalization also raises ethical, moral, and digital equity issues, such as the digital divide, the spread of invalid information, and the risk of moral decline due to negative content. The article proposes implementation strategies through the integration of Islamic education values into the digital curriculum, improvement of lecturers’ technological capacity, reinforcement of infrastructure, and development of digital literacy and media ethics based on maqāṣid al‑syarīʿah. In this way, the digitalization of Islamic education learning in higher education is not only a technical innovation but also a medium to strengthen the formation of faithful, knowledgeable, and morally upright students in the digital era.
