Abstract

This study aims to explore the essence of the lived experiences of Islamic Religious Education teachers and students of MTs Mataram, NTB, in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into Islamic learning based on the Independent Curriculum, specifically the transformation of teacher roles, students' emotional responses, issues of sharia ethics, and a practical integration framework that aligns with the local Sasak maqasid sharia. A Husserlian interpretative phenomenological approach was used with 12 participants (6 teachers, 6 students) from MTsN 1 Mataram and a private Muhammadiyah MTs. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews (45-60 minutes), 8 weeks of daily reflective journals, hybrid class observations, and FGD validation by MUI clerics from Mataram. The analysis follows the hermeneutic circle: transcript horizontalization, thematic clustering via Google Colab AI-assisted, and narrative synthesis based on QS Al-Alaq:1-5. Four essential themes were found: (1) teachers transform into "digital murabbi facilitators" (RPP efficiency +62%), (2) students are amazed by the dialogue simulation of the Prophet's companions Sasak (motivation +129%) but miss the warmth of the ustadz, (3) MUI scholars mitigate algorithm bias through collective ijtihad (content accuracy 94%), (4) AI Framework-Mataram Merdeka Curriculum with 2-day teacher training (Rp1.5 million/teacher), open-source "Tajwid Sasak" platform, and replication of 50+ MTs NTB (Rp2 billion, 2026-2028). Pilot 120 students: ‎P5 project +550%, makhraj +33%.‎
