Development of Augmented Reality (AR)-Based Mindloops Magazine to Minimize Solar System Misconceptions among Elementary School Students
Abstract
Misunderstanding of the material or misconceptions in the learning process can hinder the success of learning at school. Therefore, this study aims to develop a learning tool in the form of AR-based Mindloops Magazine to reduce students' misconceptions about solar system materials. The type of research used is Research and Develop (RnD) with the ADDIE model which consists of the analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The subjects in the study were grade VI students of SDN 1 Tunjungmuli which consisted of an experimental class and a control class. The sampling technique used is random sampling. In the experimental class, learning was applied using AR-based Mindloops Magazine, while in the control class it used a student handbook. Data collection was carried out through interviews, questionnaires, and tests. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative approaches. Quantitative analysis includes normality, homogeneity, and t-test. The results of the study show that AR-based Mindloops Magazine is in the category of valid and practical. Statistical tests showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous with values of 0.136 and 0.148 (both more than 0.05). In addition, the results of the t-test also obtained a significance value of 0.015 (less than 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that the use of AR-based Mindloops Magazine learning media is effective in minimize students' misconceptions about solar system materials
