Model of PAI Learning Based on Authentic Arabic Texts: Efforts to Overcome the Decontextualization of Naqli Evidence among Madrasah Students in the Weda Mining Circle Region, Central Halmahera
Abstract
This study investigates the phenomenon of dalil naqli decontextualization among madrasah students in the mining ring community of Weda, Central Halmahera—a region undergoing massive global-scale nickel industrialisation through the presence of PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP). Students in this area are capable of memorising Qur'anic verses and hadiths related to environmental ethics, work ethics, and social morality, yet systematically fail to contextualise these textual resources against the crises unfolding in their immediate surroundings, a failure rooted in the structural separation between Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Arabic Language Education (PBA). Employing a Research and Development (R&D) design within a multidisciplinary collaborative framework between the PBA and PAI programmes at IAIN Ternate, this study proposes the PAI Learning Model Based on Authentic Arabic Texts (MPA-TAA) as an interdisciplinary solution. The model synthesises principles from critical sociolinguistics, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), contextual teaching theory, and critical discourse analysis of religious texts, repositioning authentic Arabic texts as linguistic-hermeneutical instruments through which dalil naqli is contextualised against the sociological realities of the mining zone. This research is expected to contribute to the development of an integrative Islamic education paradigm for extractive-industrial zones in the island territories of Eastern Indonesi
