Abstract
This study aims to describe the principal's strategy in managing honorary teachers at SMP Negeri Palembang, including planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors and their impact on teacher motivation and performance. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that the principal implements transformational and humanistic leadership through coaching, appreciation, and equality between civil servants (ASN) and honorary teachers. School committee support and a collaborative culture are supporting factors, while the main obstacles are delays in the disbursement of BOS funds and limited training. Empathetic and participatory strategies have been shown to increase the motivation, loyalty, and performance of honorary teachers.
