Abstract

This study examined the application of fantasy makeup body painting, student creativity, and the relationship between the two among students in the Cosmetology and Beauty Study Program at Padang State University. Previous studies have addressed fantasy makeup, body painting, learning media, and creativity, but evidence concerning the relationship between body painting application and creativity in this student population is still limited. A quantitative correlational design was used. The population comprised 90 students from the 2023 cohort, and 50 respondents were selected through proportional random sampling. Data were gathered using a five-point Likert questionnaire consisting of 50 statements, with 25 statements for each variable, and were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 30. Descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, normality tests, and Spearman Rank correlation were performed. The mean score was 102.08 for body painting application and 101.48 for creativity. Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients were 0.795 and 0.899, respectively. Because the data were not normally distributed, Spearman Rank correlation was used. The analysis yielded ρ = 0.607 with p < 0.001, showing a positive and significant relationship between the two variables. The study adds empirical evidence concerning the relationship between body painting practice and creativity in cosmetology learning.
