Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services using the assertive training technique in reducing people-pleaser behavior among tenth-grade students at Dar El Iman. The research employed a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design with seven students selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used was a people-pleaser scale administered before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant decrease in students’ people-pleaser scores after participating in four sessions of group counseling with assertive training. The Wilcoxon test produced a significance value of 0.016 (p < 0.05), indicating a meaningful difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Therefore, group counseling using the assertive training technique is effective in reducing people-pleaser behavior among students.
