Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the interplay between deep acting and flourishing among personnel in the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of Sleman City Police's Criminal Investigation Unit. This research utilized a qualitative method utilizing an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) framework. The participants included three individuals working in the PPA Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Sleman City Police. Data were gathered via semi-structured in-depth interviews and examined idiographically through iterative reading, preliminary noting, identification of emerging themes, mapping of interconnections among themes, analysis of individual cases, and cross-case evaluation. The results show that researchers
face significant emotional demands from their participation in cases involving violence against women and children. Deep acting involves managing internal emotions, adopting perspectives, fostering empathy, and creating meanings associated with professional roles. These approaches assist investigators in upholding the quality of their engagements with victims while ensuring professionalism in the execution of their responsibilities. At the same time, thriving  is evident inthe researchers’ capacity to operate effectively, grow professionally, sustain mental resilience, and find significance in their work. The relationship between deep acting and flourishing is shaped by the interplay of emotional requirements, individual resources, social support, professional
experience, and the significance of the occupation. These results emphasize the significance of psychological and organizational assistance for researchers operating in emotionally challenging settings.
